But Arnie fans will have to pay up to £1500 for the privilege of his company when the Hollywood A-lister appears in the city early next year.

An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger will see the Terminator star take part in a live interview at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on Wednesday, January 20.

The former Mr Universe, worth an estimated £200 million, will discuss his meteoric rise to fame, which saw him become the world’s greatest bodybuilder, a star of film and achieving one of the highest
political offices in the United States.

Promoters confirmed the event will have a “Terminator
theme”, featuring a charity auction of Arnie film memorabilia to raise money for an Edinburgh cause, yet to be announced.

An EICC spokeswoman said: “We very much look forward to this event taking place in January, as it is great for the EICC and Edinburgh.

“With every event there is a contractual process that has to be completed and we hope to reach this stage shortly.”

The exclusive black-tie dinner is being organised by leading events company Olexy Productions, which hosted a similar sell-out audience with Schwarzenegger in Leeds in 2014.

The event, which was hosted by comedian and presenter Jonathan Ross, even saw one Arnie super-fan join the star on stage to propose to his girlfriend.

Several different ticket tiers are available, starting from £95 – which excludes dinner – or £145 which includes a three-course meal.

Those who wish to meet their idol in person can opt to pay for a £1500 platinum ticket package, which includes an intimate “meet and greet” with Schwarzenegger for just 20 people and the opportunity to pose for a selfie with the star.

Ticket holders will have to pay £545 to upgrade to the photo opportunity with the actor.

The Lennox Suite, together with the adjoining concourse, holds a maximum of 2000 for dinner, though the EICC stressed exact numbers were still to be confirmed.

Olexy Productions has also hosted sell-out events with Hollywood legend Al Paccino, Vinnie Jones and have a forthcoming event with Jean Claude Van Damme in Manchester in November.

Schwarzenegger will also be appearing at a black-tie dinner event in Birmingham the following evening, also organised by Olexy Productions.

BODYBUILDING TO THE BIG SCREEN

BORN in Austria, Arnie moved to the US from a young age to pursue bodybuilding.

He is considered among one the most important figures in the history of sport, winning the acclaimed Mr Universe title twice and Mr Olympia seven times.

In 1984, Schwarzen-egger catapulted himself into cinema history as the title character in Jim Cameron’s sci-fi thriller Terminator, in which he uttered the now legendary catchphrase “I’ll be back”. The sequel spawned the equally famous “Hasta la vista, baby.”

He has also starred in Commando, Predator and Total Recall.
