Deadly cookbook featuring recipes by Scots crime writers shortlisted for global award

• “Killer Cookbook” shortlisted for World Cookbook Awards

• Recipes by Ian Rankin and Val McDermid included

• Book published with aim to raise funds for new morgue and mortuary centre for Dundee University

The book, which features recipes from leading crime authors including Ian Rankin, Val McDermid and Jeffery Deaver, is one of five books on the shortlist for the Best Charity and Fund Raising in Europe award. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on 23 February.

The fund raising campaign was launched last year to help raise £1 million for a new state-of-the-art morgue and mortuary research facility at Dundee University’s world-renowned Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification, which is set to revolutionise the study of anatomy and forensic science in the UK.

Emily Dewhurst, from the Million For A Morgue campaign said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Killer Cookbook is being given international recognition. The book has been really well received and we must say a big thank you once again to all of our contributors.”

She added: “The book is packed full of great recipes and if anyone is wanting to try Val McDermid’s Russian Stuffed Aubergine, Tess Gerritsen’s spicy Chinese chicken salad or the Killer Margaritas from the husband of Professor Sue Black then they can still get a copy in time for Christmas.”
