On this day 1982: Coldest ever Scots temperature

ON THIS day in 1982 the coldest temperature ever in Scotland was recorded.

Braemar in Aberdeenshire faced almost Siberian conditions as the temperature plummetted to -27.2°C. A second temprature of -27.2 °C was also recorded on 30th December 1995 in Altnaharra.

The Met office reports that temperatures below -20 °C are most common in the East of Scotland, closely followed by the North Scotland.
