The owners of a German motor garage have put the iconic Subaru Impreza WRC on the market for €280,000 – roughly £230,000.
Emblazoned in full blue and yellow rally livery, the 300 horse power, gold wheeled car made its first appearance at the Monte Carlo Rally in January 1997 driven by McRae and co-driver Nicky Grist.
The vehicle was used after McRae’s 1997 stint by Poland’s European rally champion Krzysztof Holowczyc, who used it in rallies across Portugal, Argentina, San Remo and Spain.
From 1999 to 2008 the Impreza fell into private hands, occasionally appearing at World and European stage rallies.
It was restored in the late noughties and was only moved for short testing trips.
McRae was the son of five-time British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae.
He followed in his father’s footsteps by winning the same title in 1991 and 1992 before going on to become the first British person – and the youngest – to win the World Rally Championship Drivers’ title in 1995.
