GR Ant’s Choice: BIXON with Maayan Nidam

Tomorrow night see’s Berlin-based producer Naayan Nidem headline deep house club, Bixon. Nidam’s distinctive blend of house owes its sound to her past. A traveller at heart, Nidem was born in Tel Aviv, studied in the Mediterranean, DJ’d in the New York club/bar scene. Only after a trip to the South American underground she decided to set up home in the electronic capital of Europe, Berlin.

You can expect a fusion of styles - from ass-shaking grooves with distinct Latin swing, bubbling funk, warm bass lines and sensual melodies. Nidam’s sets are neither too obvious nor obscure... it’s cool, fun and most of all quirky... hence she was snapped up by the Cadenza imprint, owned by Ibiza’s King of DJs, LUCIANO. Support from Anna Wall (contemporary house and US garage) and the Bixon residents (Laurence Nolan - this week’s podcast, Kirk Douglas and Phil Kearney).

Tomorrow, Castle Club, Queensferry Lane, 10.30pm-3am, £10
