Cairngorm photography prize winner revealed

THIS is the stunning view of the Eastern Cairngorms taken from Tomintoul which has taken the top prize in a photographic competition organised by Visit Cairngorms.

The nationwide competition, launched to capture the UK’s biggest National Park on film, attracted more than 540 entries.

The winning entry – “Looking over the Eastern Cairngorms from Tomintoul” was taken by Paul McGregor who stays in the village. His prize is a Pentax camera and accessories worth over £550.

Alan Rankin, the chief executive of Visit Cairngorms, said: “We were bowled over by the quality and quantity of images that were submitted to the Visit Cairngorms competition, but judging the winners was a really tough job and there were some heated debates at the judging table. However, we think that Paul more than deserves his win – as do all the category winners.

“Without a doubt, each image has captured the Cairngorms National Park in such a special way. We will be using these and more of the photos for an online montage of images submitted.”
