British stars in running for theatre awards

BRITISH stars Jude Law, Alfred Molina and Catherine Zeta Jones are in the running for top US theatre awards The Tonys.

Law, who is up for his lead role in Hamlet, takes on Molina – star of Red – as well as Denzel Washington, Liev Schreiber and Christopher Walken for best actor in a play. Zeta Jones – star of A Little Night Music – is up for the leading actress in a musical category at the stage awards, which take place on 13 June.

Veteran British-born actress Angela Lansbury is also up for an award for her role in the same production, which transferred to Broadway after opening at London's Menier Chocolate Factory.
