Album review: Washed Out, Within And Without

This album showcases the tie-dyed sound of Earnest Green, a one-man soundtrack for the summer, but it ends up being plain horizontal in the quest to be laid back.

Far And Away succeeds in creating the illusion of distance, which is quite endearing, but when Green drops his guard in the closing A Dedication there is a glimpse of real intimacy. Otherwise the listener is teased and tantalised but never fulfilled.
