48 hours in... Gibraltar

• 9pm Spend the night enjoying live entertainment at Savannah, a bar located at Gibraltar’s Ocean village. Grab a freshly made cocktail and take in the late-night atmosphere on the terrace.

• Saturday, 10am Start the day well with a full English breakfast at the 
Gibraltar Arms located on Main Street.

• 12:30pm Set sail out of the marina on a Dolphin Safari. The Original Dolphin Safari run tours from 12.30pm and offer a 98 per cent success rate of seeing the beautiful mammals (www.dolphinsafari.gi, to book in advance, £22.50/£13.50).

• 4pm Take a stroll up Main Street to check out the shopping possibilities. There are plenty of eye-catching boutiques.

• 7:30pm For dinner, drinks and a great view of the marina in the moonlight, make your way to the Waterfront Restaurant. There’s a great grill and seafood selection.

• Sunday, 10am Take a cable car to The Top of the Rock, for an experience like no other. The view from the top takes in two continents, three countries and the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll also meet some of the local wildlife, including the famous barbary macaque apes.

• 2pm It’s time for a history lesson and to discover the impressive Great Siege tunnels forged by the merchant marines in the 1700s. Perhaps not one for the claustrophobic, as you spend a bit of time underground on this tour.

• 5pm Return to the airport for your flight home.
