Rugby: Paterson's return to squad is a real boost for Robinson

Scotland rugby coach Andy Robinson has hailed a smooth return to squad duty for Chris Paterson and hinted that the record-breaking full back can take his cap total well into three figures.

Sidelined with kidney damage sustained on his century appearance last February , 32-year-old Paterson appeared to slot back in seamlessly to the team's pre-season training camp in St Andrews.

Robinson said: "We knew it would be the case and I am delighted for Chris that he is looking very fit and very fresh.

"The hunger is building inside him as much as it ever was."

It was Robinson's first gathering since the successful tour of Argentina who subsequently hammered France 41-13. "That reinforced a lot of what we did," said a delighted Robinson.
