Letter: Elite Festival

According to Michael Fry (7 August), the Fringe is the vigorous, vibrant festival of the future, while the erstwhile "main" festival is now withered on the vine and ought to be scrapped.

What rubbish. I contacted the Hub box office today in order to obtain tickets for several events, but all were sold out. The "elitist" opera performances were sold out, as were the "specialist" piano recitals. Not bad for a jaded, tired old "has been", eh, Mr Fry? Let us continue to elebrate high art and hear no more of this nonsense.
