Charity raises drought cash

Save the Children East and Midlothian branch has raised more than £600 for its East Africa Appeal thanks to a bucket collection in Haddington.

The collection raised a total of 674.92, which will go towards helping children suffering through one of the worst droughts in African history.

Anna Smaill, chair of the branch, said: "We want to say a big thank you to the people of Haddington for being so generous in their support.

"With the food crisis across East Africa the worst in decades, one million children in Somalia alone face starvation if help is not delivered now."
