Bonfire Night: Everywhere in Scotland to see fireworks

Despite many displays being cancelled due to budget cuts, there are still plenty of places to see fireworks across Scotland.

Bonfire Night is just around the corner and plenty of families will be thinking about wrapping up warm and heading out into the cold to witness the fireworks.

But with so many displays having been cancelled in 2023 some may be asking where to go.

From council organised events to those run by local community groups, we take a look at all the firework displays taking place in Scotland.

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire firework displays

Aberdeen Fireworks Night

Aberdeen Fireworks Night will take place at 7.30pm on Sunday 5 November 2023 at Queens Links.

The display will be hosted by Jeff and Lauren from radio station Northsound 1 and will last approximately 20 minutes. From 6.30pm, ahead of the event, there will also be a charity firewalk.

Further information regarding parking and Park and Ride buses can be found on Aberdeen City Council's website.

Peterhead Gadle Braes Bonfire

Those in Peterhead can enjoy the annual Gadle Braes Bonfire from 7.30pm on Sunday 5 November, there are no fireworks during this event.

Peterhead Spooks and Sparkles

On Saturday October 28, the Spooks and Sparkles bonfire and firework display will take place from 7pm at Buchanhaven Harbour.

Stonehaven & District Roundtable Fireworks

Held on Sunday November 5, there will be a fireworks display organised by Stonehaven & District Roundtable Fireworks in Mineralwell Park at 7pm.

Ballater Charitable Chiels Community Bonfire & Fireworks Display

Ballater Charitable Chiels have organised a bonfire and fireworks display on Sunday, November 5 with the bonfire to be lit at 6.30pm and the firework display to kick off at 7pm at Monaltrie Park.

Ellon Bonfire Night

Taking place on Saturday, October 28 the Ellon and District Round Table organised event will begin at 6.30pm in Gordon Park in Ellon, with the fireworks display beginning at 7.30pm. In addition, there will be a funfair, coffee, toys and hot food available.

Rosehearty Bonfire, Fraserburgh

Bonfire Night in Fraserburgh will take place from 6pm at Rosehearty Caravan Park, with the fireworks display starting at 7pm on Saturday, November 4.

Methlick Fireworks

Having been delayed, Methlick Fireworks will now take place on Saturday November 11, instead of the original date. Entry will be via donation to support future events, with mulled wine, hot chocolate and other food available on the night. The display at French’s Field, opposite Methlick Wood will begin around 7pm.

Kemnay Fireworks Display

Starting from 6pm at Bogbeth Park, the Kemnay Fireworks Display will feature a barbecue, drinks and sparklers with a fireworks display at 7.15pm on Sunday November 5. Donations will be accepted on the night toward future events.

Kirriemuir Fireworks Display

On Friday November 3, Kirriemuir residents can enjoy a fireworks display by the Rotary Club of the Angus Glens at Kirrie Hill.

The bonfire will be lit around 6.30pm while the fireworks kick off at 7.30pm, with food and drink available alongside a toy sale. The group will accept donations on the night to help fund future events.

Edzell Bonfire Night and Fireworks Display

Taking place on Saturday November 4 at Edzell Muir, organisers will kick off the event with a bonfire beginning at 6.30pm with the fireworks display being lit at 6.45pm.

There will be limited parking and eventgoers should plan ahead accordingly. Donations will be accepted on the night, however attendees can also text FIREWORKS to 70490 followed by their donation amount to help support the event.

Pitlochry and Edradour Community Bonfire

The Pitlochry and Edradour Community Bonfire will take place on Saturday November 4, sponsored by Edradour Distillery. The event will feature a large bonfire, Guy competitions, storytelling, a burger stall - plus teas and coffees - with Heartland Radio also making an appearance.

The event, hosted at the Pitlochry Recreation Ground is free, but donations toward the next are welcome. The bonfire will be lit from 6.30pm while fireworks begin at 7pm.

Crieff Bonfire Night

Crieff Round Table have organised their annual bonfire night celebration to take place on Sunday November 5, at Morrison’s Playing fields on Turretbank Road.

The bonfire will be lit at 7pm with the fireworks display starting at 7.30pm, with refreshments and glowsticks available on the night. While the event is free to attend, there is a suggested donation of £5.

Clackmannanshire, Fife, and Stirling firework displays

Anstruther Roundtable Charity Fireworks Display

On Sunday November 5 the East Neuk O’ Fife Round Table will begin their fireworks display at 7.30pm at the East Harbour Basin car park.

Donations toward the event can be made on the night or through their dedicated Just Giving page.

Cupar Fireworks Display

Cupar Golf Club will host their fireworks display with Fireworx Scotland on Friday November 3, with gates opening at 5.30pm and the display starting at 7.30pm.

This is a paid for event at £2.50 per person, but there will be food, tombola and merchandise on sale.

Crossford Fireworks Display

The people behind Crossford Children's Gala will host their fireworks display on Friday November 3 from 7.30pm. Hot food, snacks and neon accessories will be available from 6.30pm, with the event taking place at King George V Park, Crossford.

Buckhaven Braes Bonfire and Fireworks

Organised by the Buckhaven and Denbeath Community Council and funded by the local community, the annual Buckhaven Braes Bonfire and Fireworks will take place on Sunday November 5.

There will be rides which will be open from 5pm, with the bonfire lit at 6pm while the fireworks will start at 6.30pm.

Inverkeithing Community Gathering

Run by the local community, on Sunday November 5 there will be a fireworks display at Ballast Bank from 7pm. Donations toward the event will be accepted on the night with LED toys and face painting available

Display starts at 7pm. Community run and funded, donations welcome.

Live-action and Fireworks Spectacular at Knockhill Racing Circuit

On Saturday November 4 adrenaline seekers can head to Knockhill for an exciting event on and off track. Starting at 2.30pm, events will kick off with motorsport action before the bonfire at 3.30pm and the fireworks display from 5.45pm. In addition, there will be club car stands, funfair rides, food stands and on-site restaurants.

This is a ticketed event which is likely to sell out. Adult tickets cost £20, tickets for 13-16 year olds costs £10 while 12 and under go free.

Kirkmichael Fireworks

Taking place on Saturday October 28 spectators should head to Inverchroskie House, Enochdhu for the bonfire and fireworks display which will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm

Remember Remember Perth’s Bonfire Night

Organised by the Perth Strathearn Round Table, the annual fireworks event will take place on Sunday November 5 at South Inch Park.

From 6pm there will be funfair rides with the bonfire lit at 7pm and fireworks from 7.30pm. There will be donation buckets available on the night supporting local charities.

Briarlands Bonfire Night, Blairdrummond

While it may be a little late in the season to visit Briarlands Farm to see the animals you can, however, head to the venue for their bonfire night event on Saturday November 4.

Due to the proximity to animals there will be no fireworks, but there will be food and drink available from their special menu with marshmallows for roasting. Tickets cost £4 per person, even if you are an annual pass holder.

Cardenden Community Bonfire

Cardenden Community Bonfire will take place at Wallsgreen Park, Cardenden on Friday, November 3 at 6pm.

Killearn Community Fireworks Night

Taking place at The Glebe, Killearn Village Hall, this community run event will begin at 7pm on Friday November 3.

Dumfries & Galloway firework displays

Dalbeattie Civic Daze Fireworks Display

Supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Dalbeattie Civic Daze Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday November 4 at Colliston Park at 7.30pm. Catering will be provided by Granite Kitchen and donations will be welcomed.

Langholm's Big Bang

Langholm's Big Bang will take place on Sunday November 5 at Kilngreen, Castleholm, with the bonfire and fireworks display running from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Lockerbie's Firework Display Night

Taking place on Saturday November 4, the RH Youth Organisation's fireplace display will take place to the rear of Lockerbie Ice Rink, with tickets available for £2 per person. In addition to the fireworks display, there will be three bonfires, marshmallow toasting, a performance from the RH Theatre Group alongside hot food, tea and coffee and a tuck shop from 6pm.

The Green Frog Fireworks Display, Moffat

While organisers have said this could be the last time they host their annual fireworks event, Moffat's The Green Frog will host their ticketed fireworks and bonfire display from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday November 4.

Moniaive Gala Bonfire & Fireworks

On Friday November 3, the Moniaive Gala Bonfire and Fireworks display will take place at Bottom Park, Dunreggan, from 6pm to 9pm, with food available on the night. Donations will also be accepted.

Stranraer Community Fireworks Display

The Stranraer Community Fireworks Display will take place on Friday November 3 from 5pm, at Agnew Park. Wristbands for the park are available for sale to help raise funds toward future events and are available from shops around the community.

East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire & South Ayrshire firework displays

Ayr Rugby Club Fireworks Display

With fairground attractions from 5pm plus live music and a bonfire and fireworks later in the evening, the event at Ayr Rugby Club on Friday November 3 is one worth attending. Tickets are currently available.

Cumnock and District Round Table Fireworks Display

Taking place on Sunday November, 5 at Murray Park, the Cumnock and District Round Table fireworks display will kick off at 6.30om

Girvan & South Carrick Fireworks Display

The Girvan & South Carrick Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday November 4, from 7pm at Louisa Drive, Shore Front.

Dean Castle Country Park: Halloween Firework Spooktacular

Not quite Bonfire Night, the Dean Castle event will mark Fawkes Festival in Kilmarnock on Sunday October 29 and Tuesday October 31. There are limited tickets still available.

Kilwinning Community Fireworks

Kilwinning Community Fireworks will take place on Monday November 6 at McGavin Park from 4.30pm when the food outlets and children's rides begin. Additional fire performers will begin at 5pm, while the main display is at 7.30pm. There is a suggested donation of £10 per family.

Rankinston Firework Display

The Rankinston Firework Display will begin at 6.30pm on Saturday November 4 at the Littlemill Place football field. Donations toward the next event are being accepted.

Troon Round Table Fireworks

The Troon firework display will take place on Saturday November 4, with a funfair from 4pm and fireworks from 7.30pm. There is a suggested £10 donation per family and the event will be held at North Shore Road, Troon.

East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde firework displays

GHA Rugby Club Fireworks Display

GHA Rugby Club Fireworks Display will take place on Sunday November 5, from 7.15pm. Muirend playing fields in Gifffnock will be closed for the ticketed event.

Falkirk and West Lothian firework displays

Blackridge Fireworks Display

There will be a fireworks display in Blackridge with road closures between 20-40 Bedlormie Drive. The display will begin in the evening, with the event to begin from 3pm to 8pm.

Calderwood, East Calder Fireworks

Taking place on Monday November 6, there will be fireworks from 6pm at Calderwood, East Calder.

Falkirk Fireworks Display

On Sunday November 5, Callendar Park will host its annual fireworks display with entertainment from 6.30pm and the display beginning at 7.30pm.

Linlithgow Rugby Club Bonfire and Fireworks Display

On Saturday November 4, Linlithgow Rugby Club will host the town's firework display. Taking place from 6pm, there will be food and drinks available with toys and other items also on sale, though tickets should be purchased beforehand with family tickets costing £20.

Deer Park Fireworks Night Livingston

The fireworks display at Deer Park in Livingston will begin at 7.30pm, with tickets available from £7 for individuals or from £24 for groups of four. There is also a Dine & Display ticket available with a hot fork buffet.

Hopetoun House: Family Firework Spectacular

Hopetoun House will host a Fawkes Festival event on Saturday November 4, with the display to take on "A Night at the Movies" theme. In addition there will be a funfair, bar, catering, marshmallows and firepits alongside a DJ, a bonfire and a bungee jump. Tickets must be purchased in advance and the event will run from 4pm.

West Calder Fireworks

West Calder Fireworks will kick off from 6pm on Friday November 3 at the West Calder High School Playing Grounds with hot food on the night, donations are requested upon entry with events beginning from 6pm.

Glasgow North East Fireworks Festival,

A wide range of free entertainment will be available from 11am on Sunday November 4 at Glasgow Fort. The Drifters and Motown will perform at 6pm, ahead of the display at 7.30pm. Additional entertainment includes a funfair, an enchanted princess pantomime, performances from local musicians, a live wrestling show from Iron Girders and a selection of pop-up food stalls.

Moray firework displays

Elgin Fireworks Display and Bonfire

Elgin Rotary Club will host their fireworks display on Saturday November 4 in Cooper Park, from 6.30pm with food and refreshments available on the night. While the event is free to attend organisers do ask for attendees to provide donations.

Forres Bonfire and Fireworks Display

With a theme of music through decades, Forres Rotary Club with host their fireworks display at Grant Park on Saturday November 4, from 6.30pm. Donations are being accepted online or on the night.

Highlands firework displays

Highland Council’s Civic Bonfire and Fireworks Display, Inverness

Inverness residents will be treated for a bonfire and fireworks display at Bught Park on Sunday November 5, with Horne's funfair to begin events from 5pm alongside a performance from the Fly Agaric Fire Display Team from 5.30pm followed by a fireworks display at 7pm.

Thurso Fireworks Display

Hosted by the Thurso Rotary Club at Thurso Esplanade, this fireworks display will begin at 7pm on Saturday November 4, with donations toward next year's event accepted.

Halfway Fireworks Display

The Halfway Community Fireworks display will take place on Saturday November 4, with fairground entertainment from 1pm and fireworks from 7pm at the Newton Station Park and Ride car park . The event is free to enter but organisers do request that donations reflect the efforts put in.

Lanark & District Round Table Fireworks Display

Taking place at Moor Park on Saturday November 4, this community organised event will cost £5 per ticket with a reduction for groups of four or more.

Strathclyde Country Park Fireworks Display

North and South Lanarkshire Councils are hosting a public firework display at Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell on Sunday November 5 at 6.30pm. Earlier in the day The Big Feed will run food outlets at the Watersports Centre with a bonfire to be lit at 5.30pm.

In addition, M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park, will be open from 10am to 10pm and visitors to the fireworks display can take advantage of a discounted wristband for £12.95 between 2pm and 9pm, which can be booked online.

Strathaven Fireworks and Bonfire Night

Organised by Strathaven Round Table, the Strathaven Fireworks and Bonfire Night will kick off in Strathaven Park from 7.30pm as the bonfire is lit. The fireworks display will begin at 8pm with food available on the night. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the night, from £4 for individual tickets or £12 for a family of four.

Mid Lothian, East Lothian, and Scottish Borders firework displays

Ancrum Bonfire

There will be a bonfire held at Ancrum Village Green on Sunday November 5 from 6pm.

Dalkeith Country Park: Halloween Firework Spooktacular

Another event which isn't strictly about Bonfire Night is Fawkes Festival at Dalkeith Country Park on Saturday October 28. Running from 4pm there will be plenty of entertainment for all the family including fairground rides, food and drink and a Halloween-inpspired fireworks display with lasers. Tickets start from £15.26 for adults or £9.96 for children aged 4-15 - all under threes go free.

Gala Rugby Fireworks Evening

On Saturday November 4 there will be an Disney-inspired fireworks display at Gala Rugby Club. Starting at 6.30pm tickets cost £3 for adults and £2 for children, with hot pies, a raffle and a candy stall.

Arniston Bonfire Night Fireworks Party

With three bonfires to be lit on Sunday November 5, there will be plenty of excitement at Arniston House in Gorebridge even before the fireworks are lit. Tickets can be purchased online with food stalls and hot drinks available on the night.

Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair Rotary Club

Organised by the Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair Rotary Club, there will be a fireworks display in the field behind Innerliethen Medical Centre on Sunday November 5 from 7.30pm. Tickets start at £5 per adult, £3 per child, or £10 for a family ticket.

Border Union Bonfire Night, Kelso

On Sunday November 5, the Border Union will host a Bonfire Night event from 6pm at Springwood Park, Kelso with children's entertainment and refreshments. Entry to the event is free, however parking will cost £5.

Loanhead Fireworks Display

Loanhead Fireworks Display will take place on Friday Novmber 3 at Loanhead Memorial Park, with free entry from 6pm until 7.15pm with donations welcome.

Gosford House: Family Firework Spectacular

Another Fawkes Festival event, there will be a Family Firework Spectacular at Gosford House in Longniddry on Sunday November 5. Tickets are available from £15.26 for adults or £9.96 for children aged 4-15 and the fireworks will take on a "Movie Magic" theme.

Mayfield and Easthouses Community Association Fireworks Display

This community organised event will take place from 7.30pm on Sunday November 5 at Mayfield Public Park, with entertainment plus food and drink on sale during the evening. Adult tickets cost £3 per person, while under 16s cost £1.50 and under fives go free.

West Linton Fireworks Display

Running as a fundraiser for SocialiZe Youth Group, there will be a bonfire and fireworks display at Lower Green, West Linton on Saturday November 4 from 6.30pm. The event will be free though donations will be accepted upon entry.

Orkney, Shetland and West Isles firework displays

Orkney Rotary Club Bonfire and Fireworks Display

Orkney Rotary Club have organised Kirkwall fireworks display on behalf of Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council on Saturday November 4 at Peedie Sea. Kirkwall City Pipe Band will perform ahead of the bonfire being lit, with the fireworks to begin at 7.15pm.

Guy Fawkes Night, Stronsay

Run by Stronsay Community Council, this Bonfire Night will take place on Saturday November 4, on the field next to Stronsay Community Hall. Events will begin at 7pm, with a quiz, Guy competition, fireworks raffle and more.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £3 for children.
