Reward offered after lizard is dumped

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a bearded dragon was abandoned in the toilets of an Edinburgh supermarket.

The animal welfare charity was called to rescue the adult male reptile from the gents toilets in Morrisons on Pilton Drive on Sunday. The charity, which is now caring for the animal at its city base, has warned that offenders could face penalties up to a maximum of six months in prison, a £5000 fine or both for abandoning animals.

Inspector June Chalcroft said: “The shop would have been fairly busy at this time, so we’re hoping members of the public may have noticed someone, probably female, carrying the sack in to the store.”

Anyone with information can contact the Scottish SPCA on 03000-999 999.
