Warning not to 'neglect' motorways in rail drive

ENGLAND needs more motorways, and high-speed rail plans must not lead to the road network becoming neglected, a report from MPs said today.

It was "unacceptable" that some parts of England were discriminated against in terms of road transport investment, the report from the Commons transport committee said.

The Highways Agency should ensure that where possible the 900 miles of trunks road that are still single carriageways should be upgraded to dual carriage.
