Snooker: Masters Series victory for MacGillivray

Granton snooker player Craig MacGillivray continued his fine run of form by
winning Event 4 of the Scottish
Masters Series at The Creamery in Falkirk.

MacGillivray was in superb form, making breaks of 79, 74, 78 and 68 as he reached the final after a 4-1 win over Dougie Melrose (Falkirk) in the quarter-finals and a 4-2 victory over Glasgow’s Robert Miller. MacGillivray then made breaks of 52 and 51 in a 4-1
defeat of Stirling’s Jim Rushforth in a win that extends his lead over Rushforth at the top of the rankings. MacGillivray will now turn his focus to the 2013 World Pyramid Championships in Kemerovo, Russia. The event starts today and finishes on
Saturday.

Musselburgh teenager Ross Muir will continue his rivalry with Rhys Clark in the
final of Event 4 of the Scottish
Under-21 Series on Wednesday evening. Muir, who leads the Under-21 rankings, with Clark his nearest challenger, made a break of 120 in a 3-0 victory over Glasgow’s Dylan Craig in the semi-final. The final takes place on Wednesday evening at 7pm at The Lucky Break
Snooker Club in Clydebank.
