Hearts: Final Answer

We asked what the fans thought of Hearts' latest debt figures

David McCann, Danderhall: "The fact that the debt has increased again is a concern. However, there isn't really much that we can do. Cutbacks are inevitable but I hope they won't prove to be too severe."

Steven Ferguson, Gorebridge: "I don't really worry too much about the debt. As long as Vlad is in charge, it's not a problem because UBIG are handling the debt for us."

Paul Thornton, Gorebridge: "The cut in losses and wage bill is a positive step. We need to do more to reduce the wage bill though and I think we'll see six or seven big earners leaving the club over the summer who won't be replaced."

Leanne Thomas, Shandon: "The figures aren't much of a surprise. Losing Karipidis, Aguiar and Neilson last season was never going to put a massive hole in the debt. It's going to be a long, hard road to clearing our debt and it won't happen overnight."

Rob Law, Riccarton: "It's not ideal but it isn't a big problem either. Ukio Bankas aren't knocking our door down like Lloyds are doing to Rangers. In the current economic crisis, we're very fortunate to have Romanov underwriting our debt."

Mark Teale, Westfield: "The most alarming thing about the figures was that the wage bill is still so high. Fortunately, there is still plenty of scope to cut the wage bill. Players like Kingston, Nade, Goncalves and Stewart will all need to go and I think Wallace and possibly Jonsson will be sold."

John Moore, Sighthill: "As long as we are being financed by UBIG, then the debt really isn't an issue. However, with the debt levels as they are, we are in big trouble if they pull out."

Stuart Forsyth, Balgreen: "I wasn't surprised by the latest announcement. Another debt for equity swap would obviously be a big help. The situation isn't all that different to the pre-Romanov era. We couldn't trade our way out of debt under Robinson and we still can't do that."

Kevin Baird, Dalry: "There is obviously a real need to drastically reduce the playing budget. The club is paying the price now for offering ridiculous contracts to players when Romanov first came in. I think we'll see the last of the high earners leave the club this pre-season."

Michael Paterson, Gilmerton: "The latest figures highlight how reliant we are on Romanov. If he leaves, I don't know what the club will do. The debt is a big concern but as long as Romanov is here, it is manageable."
