Hapless Accies demolished by Stirling

Stirling County 34, Edinburgh Accies 3

Stirling County stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a commanding display against the men from the capital, writes Martin Laing.

In dreadful conditions, the home pack out-muscled their visitors to maintain their recent fine form with what turned out to be a rout. This contest will go a long way to deciding who secures a coveted top-eight finish and it was Stirling’s power up front that prevailed, though their backs also contributed in spades.

The forwards pushed Accies back in the set-piece, stole lineout ball from them, dominated the breakdown and disrupted well in the loose.

County were always in front, Bengy Barsanti first touching down after just six minutes before Brian Archibald chipped over a penalty. Graham Lindsay then bagged a try that Archibald converted for a comfortable lead.

Ruairidh Bonner put Accies on the board on the half hour mark, but, shortly after the break, the home side’s superiority was evident as they scored almost at will.
