The much-anticipated event will again take place at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, which last year saw 14 of the world’s top 15 players compete for the prestigious title.

Among the celebrated performers to confirm places so far are European Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood, World Golf Championship winner Sam Burns and two-time PGA TOUR champion Seamus Power.

Major winners join the field

They will be joined by World Number Two Scottie Scheffler and fellow Major winners Justin Thomas and Matt Fitzpatrick. More big name players are expected to be announced shortly.

Former European Number One Fleetwood is aiming to go one better than his 2020 runner-up spot this time round. “I always enjoy playing the Genesis Scottish Open and it’s an event I would love to win, particularly after coming so close a couple of times in recent years,” he said.

“It’s a great event to play in the week before The Open as well and I’m looking forward to an exciting couple of weeks in East Lothian and Merseyside.”
