SPL fanzone: Motherwell

Motherwell fans should have enjoyed a much-heralded evening on Monday when the club unveiled plans for the ‘Well Society – the body which will become the majority shareholder when John Boyle hands over his shares. Unfortunately, the number in attendance (around 200-300) suggests raising the required capital will be a big challenge indeed. The first-year cost of the most basic membership is “only” £300, but this is still a lot to ask in this financial climate. But the idea that fans run the club on the principle of one member, one vote is a good one and there is some already high-profile support. Captain Stephen Craigan will be member number 00002 and James McFadden is 00001. At least he would be able to afford the first-year cost of the ”1886 package”at a whopping £25,000.
