Able to play in defence or midfield, Chalobah - like Bamford - has not appeared for Chelsea but has been out on loan at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.

Chalobah has made 29 appearances for England Under-21s, and signed a new five-year deal at Chelsea in August 2013. (Evening Times)

Since leaving Rangers, Novo has turned out for Sporting Gijon, Legia Warsaw, Huesca, Morton, Carlisle United and, most recently, Carolina Railhawks in America. (Various)

Hoops face defensive crisis ahead of Astana clash

CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers is without five central defenders ahead of the Champions League clash with Astana after Erik Sviatchenko was ruled out of the match in Kazakhstan.

The Dane could be out for up to three weeks, and joins Dedryck Boyata, Jozo Simunovic and Kristoffer Ajer on the injury list while Kolo Toure has been left behind due to a lack of match fitness.

Mikael Lustig is able to play in central defence while Efe Ambrose could be recalled. Youngster Eoghan O’Connell is another option for Rodgers. (Daily Record)
