McCarthy praises ‘head boy’ Fletcher

STEVEN Fletcher has been labelled as priceless by Wolves’ manager Mick McCarthy.

The Scot’s seventh goal of the season earned Wolves a crucial point in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal. Fletcher now has ten goals in his last 18 Premier League starts – form that has left McCarthy purring. “Anyone who is scoring goals and playing as well as that is valuable,” said McCarthy. “Can you put a price on that? I am not talking about monetary value I am talking about team value. He has just been great for us and long may that continue.”

Fletcher’s latest strike ensured that he is the “head boy” in the Premier League. The former Hibs player – still in an impasse with Scotland manager Craig Levein – has now scored ten goals with his head since the start of the 2010-11 season – more than any other player.
