Changing room chat: Dad delighted as Kirsty joins Hibs

SKY Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallacher has revealed that she has become Patron of Hibernian Ladies Football Club.

Gallacher, 37, said on her Twitter account yesterday: “I am very proud to be named Patron of @HibsLadies! My Dad is over the moon. . .”

Her dad, golfer and former Ryder Cup captain Bernard, is a proud Hibby.

Hibernian Ladies were founded in 1999 and are one of the most successful women’s teams in Scotland, having won the league title three times and the cup on five occasions.

Scotland’s one-club men, No 7

JOE WARK (Motherwell)

Wark began his career in the Ayrshire Juniors with Irvine Victoria but, after making his Motherwell debut in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere in 1968, remained forever a Steelman.

For the next 16 seasons, the full-back became captain and steadily achieved legendary status at Fir Park. In his first season, Motherwell won the Second Division title and, up to 1974, Wark was an ever-present three times in six years. In the summer of 1979 Wark had a testimonial against West Brom but an 8-1 defeat heralded a disastrous season which ended in relegation. Only at the third attempt, in 1982, did Motherwell return to the top flight and their stay was short as Wark’s final season, 1983/84, saw them relegated once again. He finally retired after a second Testimonial against a Rangers/Celtic select in January 1985. He made a Motherwell post-war record 469 league appearances and more than 500 in all.

Rangers’ chance of Hampden glory

RANGERS could be set for a title-winning party at Hampden. After they were held to a 1-1 draw at Stirling Albion in midweek, second-placed Queen’s Park reduced the huge gap at the top of the league to 20 points, after winning at Clyde.

Rangers still require six more wins to clinch the league, assuming the Glasgow amateurs win their two games in hand. And, if the two sides match each other, it means Rangers could win it at the home of Scottish football on Sunday, 7 April, when they face Queen’s Park at the National Stadium.
