Appearing in his fourth final, Aberdeen's Tom Brewster finally won the Bruadar Scottish Men's Curling Championship at Perth yesterday evening, beating Forfar's Sandy Reid by 5-4.

Brewster and his team of Michael Goodfellow, Scott Andrews and Greg Drummond came from behind after Reid scored two in the first end for the early lead. But he finally moved into the lead in the sixth end when he scored two, and in a tense tenth end, a precision draw by Brewster, who put his stone just short of the button to win the title.

Brewster said: "it's been a long time coming and it's been a lot of work. I never thought it was going to come."

His team now represent Scotland at the Ford World Men's Championship in Regina, Canada, in April.

Earlier, Lockerbie's Anna Sloan and her team of Rhiann Macleod, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton won the Columba Cream Scottish Women's Curling Championship, beating Hannah Fleming, also from Lockerbie, by 7-4.

Sloan's team now goes on to represent Scotland at the Capital One World Women's Championship in Esjberg.
