Watch as bin lorry fire closes M8 motorway as drivers urged to avoid area

The M8 westbound at Kirk of Shotts has been closed amid an ongoing vehicle fire.

Drivers are being urged to use an alternative route and expect delays as the road is closed westbound between J5 Shotts and J6 Newhouse due to the flames coming from the back of a bin lorry.

Queues of traffic are already stretching back to Harthill services.

The Trunk Road Incident Support Service (TRISS) are on route along with the police.
