ROYAL Bank of Scotland (RBS) has said it has resolved issues that led to some customers being unable to withdraw money from some cash machines.

RBS had earlier issued a statement saying it was “urgently” investigating after customers reported problems with some ATMs.

A spokeswoman for the bank group said the problem had affected some RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank customers who were unable to use other banks’ cash machines.

It is believed customers were still able to use RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank ATMs.

The spokeswoman was unable to confirm which parts of the country were affected but said the bank was looking into the matter “urgently”.

On Twitter, customers vented their frustration at the problem.

Alex Thomas wrote: “Perfect! Off into town to watch the two footy derbies and can’t get any money out, due to a problem with Natwest cards.”

Tom Nicklin added: “Once again, well done #natwest for royally screwing over your customers. Why would I want to withdraw cash on a Saturday eh?”

Another Twitter user said: “Great Natwest down can not draw any money out from any cash machine. No branch nearby. Saturday ruined.”

Martin Everand tweeted: “Seem @NatWest_Help are having problems. Tried 3 cash machines but can’t get any cash out.”
