Man held over Ba racism allegation

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly racially abusing the Chelsea footballer Demba Ba on a social networking site.

The 39-year-old from Gateshead was detained on suspicion of posting the offensive remarks about the former Newcastle player on Facebook.

Police said he was arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated harassment and bailed pending further inquiries.

Ba, who signed for the London club earlier this month, is expected to return to the North East this weekend where he will be in the team to his former club at St James’ Park.
