Trafalgar remembered

FLAGS flew from the Nelson Monument on Calton Hill yesterday to mark Trafalgar Day.

The Battle of Trafalgar, took place off the coast of Spain on October 21, 1805, and saw Admiral Lord Nelson hold off the French and Spanish fleets, though he was fatally wounded in the battle.

The flags spelt out Nelson's rallying call, "England expects that every man will do his duty", just as they had done before the battle.
