Quick sprints can stave off heart disease

Short bursts of exercise could be just as good at helping prevent heart disease as endurance sessions, research suggests.

Fast but intense sprints could help limit the risks linked to heart disease just as effectively as 20-minute runs, according to a study on teenagers. For the research, published in the American Journal of Human Biology, two groups of children exercised at varying intensities. Both saw improvements in factors that lead to heart disease.
