Rehab draws global praise
A TOUGH programme to get drug addicts and alcoholics in Edinburgh clean is attracting interest from across the world.
The Lothian and Edinburgh Abstinence Programme (LEAP) has helped scores of local people fight their dependence on a range of substances.
It has won praise from experts for its strict approach, which requires the patient to not touch drugs or alcohol during their rehabilitation.
NHS Lothian, which runs the scheme from the Stockbridge clinic, said health organisations from across the UK and beyond had been in touch to learn about the model.
Chief executive James Barbour said: "This is an important acknowledgement of the work of colleagues in contributing to the development of policies on drug and alcohol treatment in Scotland."
