Loose news values

Can we please have more features like the wonderful piece by Lesley Riddoch (Perspective, 1 July) on the inspiring social activists Allan Macrae and Tommy Riley, and fewer on subjects like: “Loose Women star loses weight before wedding” (News, same day)?

If I had wanted to read the latest C-list celebrity gossip I’d have bought Hello! magazine, not the national newspaper with a reputation for usually printing the news that really matters!
