Letter: Childish system

Following the Tory Party’s Westminster Budget, Plaid Cymru put forward a motion, backed by the SNP, deploring the decision to reduce the rate of income tax for the very wealthy, from 50p to 45p.

When the time came for the vote there was consternation in the chamber when no Labour Party MPs appeared. Where had had they gone? They had all gone home?

Why? It later emerged that it was because Labour has a policy not to vote alongside the SNP on any issue!

Surely they cannot still fail to realise that it was this sort of mindless negativity that led to their humiliating defeat at the hands of the SNP at last year’s Scottish parliamentary elections?

Can’t someone spell it out to Labour politicians that we, the public, elect them to do the best they can for the people of this country and not to play silly childish political games?
