Kusht, aka Buddy Goldie, is a producer, remixer, DJ and live artist, who grew up in Blairgowrie and began his musical journey at the age of 15, when started drumming in a band and also taught himself guitar. This was followed by a spell in Glasgow, where he worked as a sound engineer before taking on a job selling scuba-diving packages in Rhodes and eventually settling in Oslo.

Drawing on a wide range of influences from 60s exotica to psychedelic rock, he first broke into the club consciousness with a slomo reworking of Dolly Parton’s Jolene, infusing the classic with a deep groove. Since then, he has gone on to perform at festivals around the world including Germany, Thailand and Costa Rica.

On 26 April Kusht releases his latest single, Forest Levels, on Edinburgh’s Paradise Palms label. It includes the appropriately-named Canopy Calling, an infectious, flute-laden instrumental invoking images of a steamy jungle.

Kusht will be playing a DJ set at Hidden Door’s 10th birthday bash in Edinburgh on 10 May, followed by a live set at Kelburn Festival on 5 July. soundcloud.com/kusht-music
