Diary claim

Tommy Sheridan's diary contained an entry with what appeared to be the word "cupid" scored out, his former parliamentary assistant said.

Felicity "Fiz" Garvie, 55, said she would recognise his handwriting and he had written an entry in his diary for October 3, 2001.

"It could be 'cupid' but it is scored out," said Ms Garvie. Cupid's in Manchester was the swingers' club which the News of the World alleged Sheridan frequented.

Ms Garvie said she attended a meeting of the SSP executive in 2004. "He (Sheridan) spoke to confirm he had visited a sex club . . . I am absolutely clear that is what I heard," she stated.

Margaret Scott, QC for Sheridan, suggested he admitted only to having relations with one woman, Anvar Khan, but Ms Garvie disagreed. The witness accepted Sheridan had not supported her when she sought selection for a post in Europe. She said it had not been a problem .
