MP raises antisocial behaviour concerns

CONCERNS have been raised about antisocial behaviour in the Capital after it emerged that just eight ASBOs have been handed out in the last year, despite there being nearly 4000 complaints.

New figures showed there were 3961 complaints made to the city council in the last twelve months, down from 4010 the previous year.

The figures came following a Freedom of Information Request by Scottish Labour.

The party's shadow community safety minister, James Kelly, said: "What is clear is that too many people in Edinburgh are being left to suffer antisocial behaviour and it's time that more was done to tackle those who make other people's lives a misery."

A council spokeswoman said reducing crime and antisocial behaviour was a "priority", adding that Mr Kelly had been "selective" in his use of data.
