THE brother of Susan Boyle says he is aiming to reopen a former Odeon cinema in time for next year’s Edinburgh
Festival.

Businessman Gerry Boyle is behind plans to turn the Clerk Street venue into a Las Vegas-inspired cabaret and entertainment complex, as revealed in the Evening News yesterday.

A grand opening in time for August would mark almost a decade to the day since the A-listed historic building was shut down.

Mr Boyle remained coy on the details, but said: “I think when the public see what we’re proposing there’ll be a sigh of relief because it will be a million miles away from a nightclub aimed at younger people.

“Anyone who’s old enough to remember Sunday nights at the London Palladium will have a good idea of what we’re doing. Our target [opening] is in time for the Festival.”
