Epsom hero Desert Law is weighted to rule again

DESERT Law appears to have plenty in his favour ahead of the ebfstallions.com Conditions Stakes at Nottingham. The seven-year-old is the top-rated horse in the field on a mark of 100 but the conditions of the race mean he is a couple of pounds well in with some of his main rivals here.

Paul Midgley’s charge was a winner at Epsom back in June, landing the “Dash” in fine style by a length and looking good value for the margin.

The handicapper took a dim view of that success and hiked him 8lb in the ratings, meaning Midgley’s options have been severely limited since.

He ran well enough when third in the Rockingham at the Curragh last month, though, and was hardly disgraced in a decent event at Ascot most recently.

Desert Law has paid for his consistency with his elevated mark, but this race looks an ideal opportunity for another success.

Memories Galore is the choice in the Heart FM Handicap at Lingfield after opening his account at Wolverhampton. He was making it fourth time lucky that day on what was also his handicap bow after failing to cut much ice in three maiden starts.

Handed an initial mark of 70, Memories Galore was a popular choice at Dunstall Park and proved game in holding Gentleman by a length and a quarter.

There appeared to be plenty more to come and an increased perch of 75 may not be enough to stop Harry Dunlop’s charge.

Fresh from starring at Ascot on Shergar Cup day, Sammy Jo Bell can keep up the winning momentum aboard Circuitous in the Apollobet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap at Carlisle.

A reasonable effort at Musselburgh last time out suggested an overdue return to form and there is little doubt he is well handicapped if he can build on that, with trainer Keith Dalgleish in good form at the moment.

Celebration is another to monitor at the Cumbrian venue in the Apollobet Enhanced Racing Specials Nursery Handicap., while Findhorn Magic is showing signs of a return to form and is worth a shot in the Davies Chemists Handicap at Ffos Las.
