Preview: Svara-Kanti, Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh

ALL the colour and energy of Bollywood comes to Musselburgh this evening when the curtain rises on Svara-Kanti, a new collaboration between virtuoso guitarist Simon Thacker and three of the UK’s best Indian performers.

Having performed as far afield as Havana, Thacker is renowned for his innovative projects which have recently included Camerata Ritmata, The Nava Rava Ensemble, and ¡Canto Vivo!

The Head of Guitar at Napier University, Thacker’s latest project, Svara-Kanti, is an Indian/Western group that builds on the achievements of the acclaimed Nava Rava Ensemble project by bringing together the beautiful voice of Japjit Kaur and two masters of Indian classical music, Jyotsna Srikanth, on violin, and Sarvar Sabri, on tabla.
