Inquest into crash deaths

Lancashire: An inquest will take place today into the deaths of an 89-year-old motorist, a mother and her toddler son.

Jackie Bloomer, 30, and her 18-month-old son Jayden were hit by a Range Rover vehicle which mounted a pavement in Accrington on 9 February.

It is thought that the driver of the Range Rover, pensioner Ernest Wray, fell ill at the wheel.

Wales: A lawn mower raced into the record books by cutting through the world land speed record of 86.069mph on Saturday.

Last night, rider Don Wales topped the new record time he set himself 24 hours before with a speed of 87.833mph.
