Drug accused ‘fitted up by ex-partner’

AN alleged drug dealer was “fitted up” by his ex-partner who switched the “legal highs” he was selling for banned substances then reported him to the police, a court has heard

Graham Carroll, 46, of Livingston, denies being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

The prosecution alleges he was involved in distributing the class B compounds Pentylone and Methylmethcathinone, commonly known as Mephedrone or “Meow Meow”.

But Mr Carroll insists that he had stopped being involved in their sale before a change in the law in April 2010 made the chemical illegal.

He said his business changed from retail supply of the now illegal drug to wholesale supply of legal substitutes E2 and E3.

He said his income from the business dropped from up to £15,000 a week to £1000 a week.

The case at Livingston Sheriff Court was adjourned and the jury is expected to return its verdict today.
