Cigarettes to be given out

AN electronic cigarette company based in the Capital is planning to hand out 10,000 of its quit aids in the city centre to mark No Smoking Day on Wednesday.

Representatives of Skycig will be at the Wellington Statue at the east end of Princes Street from 9am to 6pm, offering to swap a traditional cigarette for an electronic one, which is the equivalent of 40 cigarettes.

The firm has based its new customer support office in George Street and hopes to create 15 jobs there over the next six months.

Operations director Damien Scott said: “This initiative will hopefully alert more people to the health risks and cost associated with tobacco cigarettes and perhaps save lives.”
