Trump demands inquiry over wind farm plans
DONALD Trump is demanding a public inquiry into plans for an “eyesore” offshore wind farm he claims threatens his £750 million golf resort plan in Aberdeenshire.
Lawyers acting on behalf of the American tycoon have written to Fergus Ewing, Scottish energy minister, calling for a public hearing into the controversial plans for the 11 turbine European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) which would be built less than two miles from his championship links at the Menie estate.
Ann Faulds, a partner at Aberdeen solicitors Dundas and Wilson, states in her letter to Mr Ewing: “A public inquiry into the proposed development is necessary to explore all material considerations and to ensure a proper evidential base to inform the Scottish ministers’ determination of the application.
“The potential economic impact of the proposed development on my client’s development, and by extension the regional and Scottish economy, has not been addressed.”
