Arrests over crime spree

A WAVE of shoplifting and vandalism offences in a Lothian town has led police to arrest a number of teenage boys over the crimes.

Officers have charged the youths in connection with offences including vandal attacks on cars in North Berwick's Links Road, as well as vandalism at a shop in the town's High Street, and three shoplifting offences.

The offences were all carried out on 5 March.

Community Inspector Ian Mackay said: "Officers have dedicated a lot of time to investigate these crimes and I am delighted they have now been solved.

"However, I must stress the importance of people realising the effects this alcohol-fuelled, unacceptable behaviour has on the community."
