POSH and Becks enjoyed an evening of Scottish hospitality on a night out in East Lothian as he prepares to launch his own whisky.

The superstar footballer landed at Edinburgh Airport on Saturday morning before being joined by his wife Victoria, and friends Gordon and Tana Ramsay at the luxury Balmoral Hotel in the capital.

Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin supplied the food at a private dinner held in Gilmerton House in North Berwick later that night, tweeting a lavish lobster dish and an unusual blue dish before posting a photograph of himself with Ramsay and Beckham.

Gilmerton House is a Grade A listed Georgian mansion owned by the Kinloch family – for the past 20 years the house has been operating as an exclusive use private venue.

Scottish TV chef Gordon Ramsay heaped praise on Tom Kitchin’s dishes. The star of Hell’s Kitchen posted on Twitter: “Tom’s extraordinary Kitchen great dinner last night thanks wee man.” Tom later responded: “Thanks Big man...”

Mystery surrounded the night out but social media was abuzz after Posh posted a picture on Instagram of her puckering up to David during the meal, it read: “Fun night in Scotland to launch David’s #haigclub x vb.”

A spokesman for Haig Club refused to be drawn on the finer details of the Beckham’s night out in Edinburgh but did confirm that the visit related to David’s new whisky.
