Their adorable looks make have made them one of Scotland's biggest tourist attractions and while there are plenty of places around the country where you can stumble upon them, if you really want to meet one it's best not to leave it to chance.

5. Kirkton Farm, Sutherland, Highlands
If you’re looking to enjoy Highland cows in a slightly more unusual manner than walking up to a field, then Kirkton Farm’s buggy tours could be for you. The Sutherland farm allows you to go off the beaten tracks in either a four wheel drive buggy or quad bike and get up close with the animals, including their two Highland cows. Just minutes away from Aberdeen, Aikenshall began their fold of Highland cows in 2012. Owner James Duthie originally purchased the animals for his daughters as an alternative to horses, but in the years since the coos have become a tourist attraction in their own right. Alongside the fold, you can also append the night in their luxury guesthouse or bothy.
