Tilda Swinton bonus saved project

SCOTS actress Tilda Swinton has admitted that her Hollywood bonus for winning an Oscar saved her film festival venue.

Swinton, 49, who won an Academy Award for her part in Michael Clayton, said she had could not afford the rent of the bingo hall for her Cinema of Dreams project when she took on the lease. But her win at the 2007 Oscars came just in time to pay the 20,000 a year bill.

The star, who didn't expect to win, recalled: "Fortunately, I won the Oscar and the studio gave me a very generous bonus, which turned out to be the exact amount that I needed."
