• Tor Sodergren got up close and personal with the puffins – or Tammie Norie as they are known in Shetland – during a recent trip to Sumburgh Head

• Jim Masson took this imposing photograph of Smailholm Tower, near Kelso. The peel tower, which provided protection from raids from across the Border, was built by the Pringle family

• Reader Malcolm Sutherland’s photograph, taken in the spring from the CalMac ferry as it left the island of Mull in its wake, captures a band of sleet sweeping in to dramatic effect

• Two for teasel: Reader David Tucker photographed a peacock butterfly and a honey bee feeding on nectar from teasel plants in the grounds of Castle Campbell near Stirling recently
