THE thirty metre-high Kelpies statues in Falkirk cut an impressive figure last night, as their lighting systems were tested ahead of their official opening this month.

The statues, designed by artist Andy Scott, were completed last year, and the finishing touches are now being made to the surrounding visitor centre and facilities.

The Kelpies, which are located at Helix Parkland, will open to the public on 21 April after their official launch as part of the John Muir Festival on 17 & 18 April.
