Turcan Connell names first legal directors

Law firm Turcan Connell has unveiled its first two legal directors, Jenny Younger and Kenneth Pinkerton, along with a raft of promotions.

The newly created legal director roles will hold client-facing responsibility and be expected to take the lead on key “internally-focused” matters.

Younger works in the fields of trusts, asset protection and succession planning, while Pinkerton specialises in charity law, tax and estate planning, trusts, and executries.

Turcan Connell also announced the following internal promotions: Heather Bruce, Paul Forrester Smith, Rona Macdonald, Mark McKeown and Neil Wilson, who become senior associates; Jennifer Macdonald and Debbie McIlwraith Cameron, promoted to associate; and Catherine Guthrie, Hannah Starritt, Amy Stevenson and Riikka Wilkinson who are now senior solicitors.

This follows last month’s appointment of Gillian Crandles as the firm’s managing partner, making her only the second person to hold the title in the firm’s 22-year history.

Chairman Simon Mackintosh said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jenny Younger and Kenneth Pinkerton in their promotions to the newly created role of legal director.

“As legal directors they will have particular responsibility for our relationships with a number of clients, as well as a management role, and will apply their specialist professional skills widely across our tax and succession and charity teams.”

The firm has around 200 staff in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.
