Cafe Piccante is now offering deep-fried Christmas pudding

AN Edinburgh chip shop is claiming to be the first in  Scotland to offer deep-fried Christmas pudding.

Cafe Piccante added the  calorie-laden dish to the menu after the success of its deep-fried Mars bar.

Boss Selim Sener said customers couldn’t get enough of the festive treat.

He said: “It might sound a bit odd but it’s very nice and we serve it up with ice cream. If people like Christmas pudding, why wouldn’t they like warm Christmas pudding with batter on it? It adds to the taste and it’s a bit of fun.”
